Massive, heavy, kneeling temple guardian – also called teppanom, from Thailand
Teppanom is a mythological angel who is considered a protection against evil spirits in Thai tradition. According to legend, these angels are men and women who were given a place in paradise because of good deeds. From there they are sent to earth to pay respect to the enlightened Buddha and to celebrate his enlightenment.
Good condition with normal signs of wear consistent with age.
The figure is a bit crooked, but that doesn’t detract from its beauty 🙂
